“Home is where it hurts”. - Camille
The “New Moon”. This astronomical event takes place when the Earth, the Moon and the Sun are aligned, the Moon being placed between the other two. The Moon is then invisible, it turns pitch black. It’s a time of stillness, of reflection. It allows us to sow new seeds for the future. So be prepared for tomorrow 10th of July, 3:16 CET! The energy lasts around two and a half days, so don’t worry, you don’t need to wake up in the middle of the night to set your intentions!
Astrologically speaking, a New Moon always invites us to focus our attention on what’s going on inside ourselves. But this one takes place at 18° of the sign of Cancer, a water element symbolized by the crab, ruled by the Moon itself. It makes this New Moon extremely emotional and personal. It really invites us to sit with ourselves, with our emotions, to meditate and take the time to notice how we feel inside.
Cancer is the sign where we get to know our emotions, our feelings, our needs and where we learn to recognise those of others. It’s the most sensitive part of ourselves, but also the most loving and nurturing. Are we able to love and nurture ourselves and others? Are we able to receive in return?
Taking place at 18°, this New Moon carries the energy of the number 9, representing a positive and necessary crisis in order to complete a cycle. It is symbolised in the traditional Tarot by the card of the Hermit. Indeed, by having a look at our feelings, we could very well enter a state of crisis if where we stand emotionally happens to be far away from where we wish to be.
From Berlin, where I do my analysis, the Sun and the Moon will be sitting in the 2nd House (House of possession, materiality, money, etc.) and will highlight this concerned area of our life. Our emotions might be highly influenced by how secure we feel in the material world. Do we have enough resources? Do we like my body, do we find ourselves beautiful? Are we healthy, do we sleep enough? The chances are high that we might judge ourselves negatively by comparing ourselves with others, so one piece of advice: don’t scroll too long on Instagram!
Pluto will be opposing the New Moon from the 8th House (very intense House, area of mysteries, secrets, taboos, sex, etc.) and will add a very direct and honest touch to what we will discover. Things that hurt, things that we tried to repress, to forget, they might all be lighted up by the plutonic energy whether we want it or not. But sitting in the sign of Capricorn, this will at the same time give us the tools and the practical possibilities to solve those old issues.
Old issues, things that we tried to forget... Well, Cancer also rules the private sphere, our roots, our ancestry and family. We carry our History, our transgenerational traumas, and we are all called at the moment, on a planetary level, to do the necessary work. It will take years, it’s not gonna be easy, and we all find ourselves at different levels on the path of healing. We therefore have to be kind, patient and compassionate with ourselves. Don’t try to compare yourself with others. It will take as long as it needs to. So if you have only one intention to sow on this New Moon, this would be to engage yourself to do what’s necessary to heal the traumas of your ancestry. It often takes one person in a family to do the evolutionary work to free an entire family from old generational blockages. Do you feel like being this person?
